Fairmont Golden Tornadoes (Fairmont, NC) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Cape Fear Colts (Fayetteville, NC), 45-32 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Fairmont upgrades its record to 16-4 on the campaign. The Golden Tornadoes host Red Springs (Red Springs, NC) to play the Red Devils in a 2A Southeastern bout on Friday, February 9. The Red Devils come into the bout with a record of 9-12. Red Springs won 54-22 in their recent league bout against Clinton (Clinton, NC)

Next up, the Colts play the Jack Britt Buccaneers (Fayetteville, NC) in a 3A/4A United 8 bout, on Friday, February 9. Cape Fear will attempt to upgrade on its 8-12 season record. The Buccaneers come into the bout with a 12-8 record after their 34-32 league loss to Seventy-First (Fayetteville, NC).
