The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Wells Pirates (Wells, TX) and the visiting Centerville Bulldogs (Groveton, TX), observed Wells's basketball team edge Centerville by a margin of 54-52.

The Pirates (26-6) will now prepare for their bout against Hull-Daisetta (Daisetta, TX). The Bobcats go into the non-league bout with a 19-8 record.

With the loss, Centerville falls to 24-6 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Martinsville (Martinsville, TX) to play the Pirates in a 1A Region IV District 27 bout on Monday, February 10. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 16-16. Martinsville won 63-52 in their recent league bout against Zavalla (Zavalla, TX)
