In Friday's league contest, the host China Spring Cougars basketball team scored a close 48-46 triumph over the Connally Cadets.

The Cougars (15-16) will now prepare for their contest against La Vega (Waco, TX). The Pirates go into the 4A Region III District 23 contest with a 16-2 record. In their last contest, La Vega nipped Gatesville (Gatesville, TX), 72-44, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Cadets battle the Robinson Rockets (Robinson, TX) in a 4A Region III District 23 contest, on Tuesday, February 11. Connally will attempt to better on its 18-13 season record. The Rockets go into the contest with a 11-22 record after their 70-40 league loss to Lorena (Lorena, TX).
