The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Staunton Bulldogs (Staunton, IL) and the host Gillespie Miners (Gillespie, IL), observed Staunton's basketball team overwhelm Gillespie by a score of 62-37.

The Bulldogs (22-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Marquette Catholic (Alton, IL). The Explorers come into the non-league challenge with a 11-12 record. In their last challenge, Marquette Catholic was routed by Althoff Catholic (Belleville, IL), 69-42, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Miners encounter the Carlinville Cavaliers (Carlinville, IL) in a South Central challenge, on Tuesday, February 11. Gillespie will attempt to improve on its 5-18 season record.
