The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Gonzales Spartans (Gonzales, CA) and the visiting Pacific Collegiate Pumas (Santa Cruz, CA), observed Gonzales's basketball team knock off Pacific Collegiate by a score of 50-36.

The Spartans (9-11) will now prepare for their challenge against King City (King City, CA). The Mustangs come into the PCAL - Cypress challenge with a 1-18 record. In their last challenge, King City was knocked off by Soledad (Soledad, CA), 54-36, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Pumas encounter the Greenfield Bruins (Greenfield, CA) in a PCAL - Cypress challenge, on Monday, February 10. Pacific Collegiate will attempt to improve on its 3-11 season record. The Bruins come into the challenge with a 11-11 record after their 88-76 non-league win over York (Monterey, CA).
