The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Northampton Yellowjackets (Eastville, VA) and the visiting Mathews Blue Devils (Mathews, VA), observed Northampton's basketball team edge Mathews by a score of 69-66.

The Yellowjackets (7-10) will now prepare for their challenge against Arcadia (Oak Hall, VA). The Firebirds come into the Eastern Shore challenge with a 12-5 record. In their last challenge, Arcadia edged Chincoteague (Chincoteague, VA), 82-50, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Blue Devils encounter the Carver College and Career Academy Wolverines (Chester, VA) in a Tidewater challenge, on Tuesday, February 11. Mathews will attempt to improve on its 14-8 season record. The Wolverines come into the challenge with a 3-14 record after their 74-55 league loss to King William (King William, VA).
