Kentucky High School Basketball - Monroe County can't hold off Russell County

Russell County Lakers (Russell Springs, KY) supporters left the game happy Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the host Monroe County Falcons (Tompkinsville, KY), 71-68 in a league match.

With the victory, Russell County advances its record to 15-8 on the year. The Lakers host Mercer County (Harrodsburg, KY) to face the Titans in a non-league match on Tuesday, February 11. The Titans enter the match with a record of 16-7. Mercer County won 55-43 in their recent non-league match against Pulaski County (Somerset, KY)

The Falcons now own a 11-14 record. They put it on the line next when they host Red Boiling Springs for a non-league match on Monday, February 10. Monroe County will face a Bulldogs squad coming off a 74-27 non-league loss to Merrol Hyde Magnet (Hendersonville, TN). The Bulldogs record now stands at 0-18.
