The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Poth Pirates (Poth, TX) and the visiting Nixon-Smiley Mustangs (Nixon, TX), observed Poth's basketball team overwhelm Nixon-Smiley by a margin of 64-39.

The Pirates (17-11) will now prepare for their challenge against Karnes City (Karnes City, TX). The Badgers come into the 3A Region IV District 26 challenge with a 15-16 record. In their last challenge, Karnes City was trounced by Stockdale (Stockdale, TX), 58-53, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Mustangs battle the Goliad Tigers (Goliad, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 26 challenge, on Tuesday, February 11. Nixon-Smiley will attempt to better on its 9-16 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 14-14 record after their 63-46 league win over Luling (Luling, TX).
