The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Negaunee Miners (Negaunee, MI) and the visiting Ishpeming Hematites (Ishpeming, MI), observed Negaunee's basketball team knock off Ishpeming by a score of 44-30.

The Miners (17-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Gwinn (Gwinn, MI). The Modeltowners come into the Mid-Peninsula challenge with a 3-13 record. In their last challenge, Gwinn dropped by Escanaba (Escanaba, MI), 52-37, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Hematites encounter the Baraga Vikings (Baraga, MI) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, February 10. Ishpeming will attempt to improve on its 11-4 season record. The Vikings come into the challenge with a 12-4 record after their 47-41 league win over Jeffers (Painesdale, MI).
