Martin County Cardinals (Inez, KY) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Johnson Central Golden Eagles (Paintsville, KY), 103-94 in a league bout.

With the win, Martin County upgrades its record to 17-8 on the season. The Cardinals travel to Pikeville (Pikeville, KY) to play the Panthers in a non-league bout on Saturday, February 10. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 15-4. Pikeville won 70-48 in their recent league bout against Shelby Valley (Pikeville, KY)

Next up, the Golden Eagles play the Paintsville Tigers (Paintsville, KY) in a District 57 bout, on Friday, February 9. Johnson Central will attempt to upgrade on its 11-8 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 11-11 record after their 69-64 non-league loss to Betsy Layne (Betsy Layne, KY).
