In Thursday's league outing, the Newport Cubs (Newport, OR) basketball squad overwhelmed the host Sweet Home Huskies (Sweet Home, OR), by a count of 68-37.

The Cubs (11-7) will now prepare for their outing against Stayton (Stayton, OR). The Eagles go into the 4A Oregon West outing with a 8-11 record. In their last outing, Stayton was crushed by Cascade (Turner, OR), 63-36, in a league outing.

The Huskies now hold a 4-17 record. They play next when they travel to Philomath for a 4A Oregon West outing on Monday, February 12. Sweet Home will clash with a Warriors squad coming off a 57-51 league win over North Marion (Aurora, OR). The Warriors record now stands at 15-5.
