Portsmouth West Senators (West Portsmouth, OH) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Wheelersburg Pirates (Wheelersburg, OH), 52-44 in a league bout.

With the win, Portsmouth West upgrades its record to 18-3 on the season.

Next up, the Pirates play the South Point Pointers (South Point, OH) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, February 10. Wheelersburg will attempt to upgrade on its 9-11 season record. The Pointers go into the bout with a 12-8 record after their 66-59 non-league win over Raceland (Raceland, KY).
