Vermont High School Basketball - Champlain Valley Union can't hold off Essex

Essex Hornets (Essex Junction, VT) supporters left the game happy Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the host Champlain Valley Union Redhawks (Hinesburg, VT), 55-51 in a league match.

With the victory, Essex advances its record to 5-13 on the year. The Hornets host South Burlington (South Burlington, VT) to face the Wolves in a Metro match on Tuesday, February 11. The Wolves enter the match with a record of 10-7. South Burlington won 60-35 in their recent league match against Mt. Mansfield (Jericho, VT)

The Redhawks now own a 7-9 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Rice Memorial for a Metro match on Tuesday, February 11. Champlain Valley Union will face a Green Knights squad coming off a 74-50 non-league loss to Albany Academy for Boys (Albany, NY). The Green Knights record now stands at 14-4.
