Louisiana High School Basketball - False River can't hold off St. John

St. John Eagles (Plaquemine, LA) supporters left the game happy Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the host False River Gators (New Roads, LA), 47-40 in a non-league match.
With the victory, St. John advances its record to 14-13 on the year. The Eagles host Ascension Catholic (Donaldsonville, LA) to face the Bulldogs in a 1A District 8 match on Monday, February 10. The Bulldogs enter the match with a record of 15-9.
The Gators now own a 10-21 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Maurepas for a non-league match on Tuesday, February 11. False River will face a Wolves squad coming off a 57-56 non-league win over Slaughter Community Charter (Slaughter, LA). The Wolves record now stands at 15-16.
