The Union Area Scotties (New Castle, PA) basketball felled the host Avella Eagles (Avella, PA), 81-68 in Friday's league test.

The Eagles now own a 9-13 record. They play next when they host McGuffey for a non-league test on Tuesday, February 13. Avella will encounter a Highlanders squad coming off a 64-36 league win over Waynesburg Central (Waynesburg, PA). The Highlanders record now stands at 14-7.
