Portville Panthers (Portville, NY) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Cassadaga Valley Cougars (Sinclairville, NY), 70-60 in a league bout.

With the win, Portville upgrades its record to 5-13 on the season. The Panthers host Silver Creek (Silver Creek, NY) to play the Black Knights in a Section 6 Chautauqua/Cattaraugus - I East bout on Tuesday, February 13. The Black Knights go into the bout with a record of 9-6.

Next up, the Cougars play the Ellicottville Eagles (Ellicottville, NY) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, February 15. Cassadaga Valley will attempt to upgrade on its 1-9 season record.
