Vermilion Catholic Eagles (Abbeville, LA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Centerville Bulldogs (Centerville, LA), 49-39 in a league bout.

With the win, Vermilion Catholic upgrades its record to 14-6 on the season. The Eagles host Central Catholic (Morgan City, LA) to clash with the Eagles in a 1A District 7 bout on Monday, February 12. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 17-7. Central Catholic won 71-34 in their recent league bout against Hanson Memorial (Franklin, LA)

Next up, the Bulldogs clash with the Highland Baptist Christian Bears (New Iberia, LA) in a 1A District 7 bout, on Monday, February 12. Centerville will attempt to upgrade on its 7-19 season record. The Bears go into the bout with a 10-17 record after their 54-45 league win over Jeanerette (Jeanerette, LA).
