The Independence Mustangs basketball team scored 74 points and held the visiting Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings to 45 in the Mustangs league triumph on Friday.

The Mustangs now sport a 7-13 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Benton for a WAMAC - West contest on Thursday, February 15.

The Vikings (2-17) will now prepare for their contest against West Delaware (Manchester, IA). The Hawks enter the non-league contest with a 2-19 record. In their last contest, West Delaware was routed by Solon (Solon, IA), 64-39, in a league contest.
