Fans at Friday's league challenge between the West Carteret Patriots (Morehead City, NC) and the visiting Swansboro Pirates (Swansboro, NC), saw West Carteret's basketball squad hold off Swansboro by a count of 45-40.

With the victory, West Carteret upgrades its record to 12-7 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Dixon (Holly Ridge, NC) to play the Bulldogs in a 3A Coastal challenge on Tuesday, February 13. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a record of 3-15. Dixon lost 45-25 in their recent league challenge against Richlands (Richlands, NC)

Next up, the Pirates play the White Oak Vikings (Jacksonville, NC) in a 3A Coastal challenge, on Tuesday, February 13. Swansboro will attempt to upgrade on its 7-11 season record. The Vikings come into the challenge with a 6-11 record after their 31-28 league loss to Croatan (Newport, NC).
