North Carolina High School Basketball - Owen nips Avery County

February 9, 2024: Black Mountain, NC 28711

Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC), 29-26 in a league bout.

With the victory, Owen upgrades its record to 3-7 on the campaign. The Warhorses travel to Madison (Marshall, NC) to play the Patriots in a non-league bout on Tuesday, February 13. The Patriots come into the bout with a record of 3-14. Madison lost 51-44 in their recent non-league bout against Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC)

Next up, the Vikings encounter the Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) in a non-league test, on Tuesday, February 13. Avery County will attempt to advance on its 9-8 season record.
