Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane (Fitzgerald, GA) fans were thrilled Friday as they observed their soccer team triumph over the visiting Sumter County Panthers (Americus, GA), 10-0 in a league challenge.
Next, the Purple Hurricane confront the Cook Hornets (Adel, GA) in a 2A Region 1 challenge, on Tuesday, March 14. Fitzgerald will attempt to better on its 10-1 season record. The Hornets enter the challenge with a 6-4 record after their 3-0 non-league win over Lanier County (Lakeland, GA).
The Panthers now have a 2-9 record. They take the field next when they host Berrien for a 2A Region 1 challenge on Tuesday, March 14. Sumter County will confront a Rebels team coming off a 3-1 league loss to Jeff Davis (Hazlehurst, GA). The Rebels record now stands at 2-8.
