Axtell Longhorns (Axtell, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Mart Panthers (Mart, TX), 10-9 in a league challenge.

The Longhorns now own a 6-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bruceville-Eddy for a 1A Region II District 13 challenge on Tuesday, March 21.

With the loss, Mart falls to 9-5 on the campaign. The Panthers host Valley Mills (Valley Mills, TX) to battle the Eagles in a 1A Region II District 13 challenge on Monday, March 13. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 6-3. Valley Mills won 10-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Rosebud-Lott (Rosebud, TX)
