Lopez Lobos (Brownsville, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets (Edcouch, TX), 2-1 in a league challenge.

The Lobos now own a 11-4 record. They take the field next when they host Harlingen South for a 5A Region IV District 32 challenge on Monday, March 13. Lopez will face a Hawks squad coming off a 10-0 league win over Porter (Brownsville, TX). The Hawks record now stands at 13-4.

With the loss, Edcouch-Elsa falls to 6-8 on the campaign. The Yellowjackets host Weslaco East (Weslaco, TX) to face the Wildcats in a 5A Region IV District 32 challenge on Thursday, March 16. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 10-5.
