Port Neches-Groves Indians (Port Neches, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Nederland Bulldogs (Nederland, TX), 4-2 in a league challenge.

The Indians now own a 18-10 record. They take the field next when they travel to Crosby for a 5A Region III District 21 challenge on Monday, March 13. Port Neches-Groves will face a Cougars squad coming off a 20-0 league win over Sterling (Baytown, TX). The Cougars record now stands at 14-4.

With the loss, Nederland falls to 3-10 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Goose Creek Memorial (Baytown, TX) to face the Patriots in a 5A Region III District 17 challenge on Monday, March 13. The Patriots enter the challenge with a record of 3-4. Goose Creek Memorial won 12-2 in their recent league challenge against Port Arthur Memorial (Port Arthur, TX)
