Blooming Grove Lions (Blooming Grove, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Malakoff Tigers (Malakoff, TX), 7-5 in a league challenge.

The Lions now own a 12-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Palmer for a 3A Region III District 18 challenge on Tuesday, March 15. Blooming Grove will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 13-3 league win over Eustace (Eustace, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 11-5.

With the loss, Malakoff falls to 4-7 on the campaign. The Tigers host Rice (Rice, TX) to battle the Bulldogs in a 3A Region III District 18 challenge on Tuesday, March 15. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 5-6. Rice lost 10-0 in their recent league challenge against Scurry-Rosser (Scurry, TX)
