Victoria West Warriors (Victoria, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Gregory-Portland Wildcats (Portland, TX), 8-6 in a league challenge.

The Warriors now own a 4-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Ray for a 5A Region IV District 29 challenge on Monday, March 14. Victoria West will battle a Texans squad coming off a 13-3 league loss to Flour Bluff (Corpus Christi, TX). The Texans record now stands at 2-9.

With the loss, Gregory-Portland falls to 9-12 on the campaign. The Wildcats host King (Corpus Christi, TX) to battle the Mustangs in a 5A Region IV District 29 challenge on Monday, March 14. The Mustangs enter the challenge with a record of 0-10. King lost 10-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Medina Valley (Castroville, TX)
