Somerset Briar Jumpers (Somerset, KY) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Wayne County Cardinals (Monticello, KY), 9-7 in a non-league challenge.

The Briar Jumpers now own a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to West Jessamine for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 16. Somerset will battle a Colts squad coming off a 12-1 non-league win over Southwestern (Somerset, KY). The Colts record now stands at 2-0.

With the loss, Wayne County falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Cardinals travel to Clinton County (Albany, KY) to battle the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 15. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 1-0. Clinton County won 17-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Pickett County (Byrdstown, TN)
