Spectators at Monday's league match between the Burns Bulldogs (Lawndale, NC) and the visiting South Point Red Raiders (Belmont, NC), witnessed Burns's softball squad tip South Point by a count of 5-1.

The Bulldogs now sport a 1-0 record. They play next when they host Chase for a Southwestern 2A match on Wednesday, March 17. Burns will face a Trojans squad coming off a 6-4 non-league win over Cherryville (Cherryville, NC). The Trojans record now stands at 1-0.

With the loss, South Point moves to 0-1 on the season. The Red raiders host East Gaston (Mt. Holly, NC) to face the Warriors in a Southwestern 2A match on Wednesday, March 17. The Warriors go into the match with a record of 1-0. East Gaston won 11-10 in their recent league match against Shelby (Shelby, NC)
