William Monroe Dragons (Stanardsville, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Western Albemarle Warriors (Crozet, VA), 10-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Dragons now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Spotsylvania for a non-league challenge on Friday, March 18.

With the loss, Western Albemarle falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Warriors host Louisa County (Mineral, VA) to battle the Lions in a Jefferson challenge on Tuesday, March 22. The Lions enter the challenge with a record of 1-0. Louisa County won 1-0 in their recent league challenge against Fluvanna County (Palmyra, VA)
