Spectators at Wednesday's non-league match between the Cape Fear Colts (Fayetteville, NC) and the host Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC), witnessed Cape Fear's softball squad tip Laney by a count of 4-3.

The Colts now sport a 5-0 record. They play next when they travel to Douglas Byrd for a United Eight 3A/4A match on Friday, March 17. Cape Fear will face a Eagles squad coming off a 15-0 league loss to Gray's Creek (Hope Mills, NC). The Eagles record now stands at 0-6.

With the loss, Laney moves to 2-2 on the season. The Buccaneers travel to North Brunswick (Leland, NC) to face the Scorpions in a Mideastern 3A/4A match on Friday, March 17. The Scorpions go into the match with a record of 1-4. North Brunswick lost 14-0 in their recent non-league match against Dixon (Holly Ridge, NC)
