Draughn Wildcats (Valdese, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting McDowell Titans (Marion, NC), 3-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Wildcats now sport a 5-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Owen for a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge on Thursday, March 16. Draughn will face a Warhorses squad coming off a 8-3 league loss to Draughn (Valdese, NC). The Warhorses record now stands at 2-2.

With the loss, McDowell falls to 4-3 on the campaign. The Titans travel to North Buncombe (Weaverville, NC) to face the Black Hawks in a The Mountain 3A/4A challenge on Tuesday, March 21. The Black Hawks enter the challenge with a record of 1-5. North Buncombe lost 12-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC)
