Columbia Roughnecks (West Columbia, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Bay City Blackcats (Bay City, TX), 6-5 in a league challenge.

The Roughnecks now own a 8-6 record. They take the field next when they host La Marque for a 4A Region IV District 26 challenge on Tuesday, March 21. Columbia will battle a Cougars squad coming off a 20-1 league loss to Stafford (Stafford, TX). The Cougars record now stands at 0-6.

With the loss, Bay City falls to 6-11 on the campaign. The Blackcats travel to Sweeny (Sweeny, TX) to battle the Bulldogs in a 4A Region IV District 26 challenge on Tuesday, March 21. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 12-6. Sweeny won 18-0 in their recent league challenge against Iowa Colony (Arcola, TX)
