East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Elkin Buckin' Elks (Elkin, NC), 2-0 in a league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 6-0 record. They take the field next when they host Southern Alamance for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 18. East Wilkes will battle a Patriots squad coming off a 24-0 league win over Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, NC). The Patriots record now stands at 4-1.

With the loss, Elkin falls to 3-3 on the campaign. The Buckin' elks host Reagan (Pfafftown, NC) to battle the Raiders in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 20. The Raiders enter the challenge with a record of 3-5. Reagan lost 11-0 in their recent non-league challenge against North Davidson (Lexington, NC)
