Shallowater Mustangs (Shallowater, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Liberty Patriots (Lubbock, TX), 12-9 in a league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 9-5 record. They take the field next when they host Childress for a 3A Region I District 2 challenge on Tuesday, March 19. Shallowater will face a Bobcats squad coming off a 10-2 league win over Roosevelt (Lubbock, TX). The Bobcats record now stands at 13-5.

With the loss, Liberty falls to 8-16 on the campaign. The Patriots host Slaton (Slaton, TX) to face the Tigers in a 3A Region I District 2 challenge on Tuesday, March 19. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 14-4. Slaton won 17-7 in their recent league challenge against Roosevelt (Lubbock, TX)
