Wetumpka Indians (Wetumpka, AL) fans were pleased Thursday as they observed their soccer team hold off the host Benjamin Russell Wildcats (Alexander City, AL), 2-1 in a league challenge.
Next, the Indians confront the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs (Millbrook, AL) in a 6A Area 5 challenge, on Saturday, March 19. Wetumpka will attempt to better on its 7-4 season record. The Mustangs enter the challenge with a 5-5 record after their 11-1 non-league win over Prattville Christian Academy (Prattville, AL).
The Wildcats now have a 2-4 record. They take the field next when they host Pell City for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 19. Benjamin Russell will confront a Panthers team coming off a 5-4 league loss to Oxford (Oxford, AL). The Panthers record now stands at 6-5.
