Murrieta Valley Nighthawks (Murrieta, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Chaparral Pumas (Temecula, CA), 6-4 in a league challenge.

The Nighthawks now own a 9-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Temecula Valley for a Southwestern challenge on Saturday, March 19. Murrieta Valley will face a Golden Bears squad coming off a 7-1 league loss to Great Oak (Temecula, CA). The Golden Bears record now stands at 3-6.

With the loss, Chaparral falls to 3-8 on the campaign. The Pumas host Santa Rosa Academy (Menifee, CA) to face the Rangers in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 18. The Rangers enter the challenge with a record of 2-5. Santa Rosa Academy won 5-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Bethel Christian (Riverside, CA)
