Athens Hornets (Athens, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Lindale Eagles (Lindale, TX), 16-5 in a league challenge.

The Hornets now own a 1-13 record. They take the field next when they travel to Brownsboro for a 4A Region II District 16 challenge on Tuesday, March 21. Athens will battle a Bears squad coming off a 14-4 league loss to Van (Van, TX). The Bears record now stands at 9-9.

With the loss, Lindale falls to 9-14 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Elysian Fields (Elysian Fields, TX) to battle the Yellowjackets in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 21. The Yellowjackets enter the challenge with a record of 11-9. Elysian Fields lost 11-1 in their recent league challenge against Troup (Troup, TX)
