De Kalb Bears (De Kalb, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Atlanta Rabbits (Atlanta, TX), 5-4 in a league challenge.

The Bears now own a 13-2 record. They take the field next when they host Queen City for a 3A Region II District 14 challenge on Tuesday, March 21. De Kalb will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 10-0 league win over Redwater (Redwater, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 14-6.

With the loss, Atlanta falls to 2-10 on the campaign. The Rabbits host New Boston (New Boston, TX) to battle the Lions in a 3A Region II District 14 challenge on Tuesday, March 21. The Lions enter the challenge with a record of 2-6. New Boston lost 5-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Como-Pickton (Como, TX)
