Burns Bulldogs (Lawndale, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC), 13-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Bulldogs now own a 6-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bessemer City for a Southern Piedmont 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, March 22. Burns will battle a Yellow Jackets squad coming off a 10-0 league loss to Highland Tech (Gastonia, NC). The Yellow Jackets record now stands at 1-4.

With the loss, Freedom falls to 2-5 on the campaign. The Patriots host Hibriten (Lenoir, NC) to battle the Panthers in a Northwestern 3A/4A challenge on Tuesday, March 22. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 3-2. Hibriten won 14-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Wilkes Central (Wilkesboro, NC)
