Winn Mavericks (Eagle Pass, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Medina Valley Panthers (Castroville, TX), 4-2 in a league challenge.

The Mavericks now own a 10-6 record. They take the field next when they host Southwest for a 5A Region IV District 28 challenge on Friday, March 22. Winn will battle a Dragons squad coming off a 17-1 league win over Southwest Legacy (Von Ormy, TX). The Dragons record now stands at 14-12.

With the loss, Medina Valley falls to 18-9 on the campaign. The Panthers host South San Antonio (San Antonio, TX) to battle the Bobcats in a 5A Region IV District 28 challenge on Friday, March 22. The Bobcats enter the challenge with a record of 15-9. South San Antonio won 14-13 in their recent league challenge against Southside (San Antonio, TX)
