Texas High School Softball - Pioneer can't get by Vela

Vela Sabercats (Edinburg, TX) backers left the game pleased Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nudge the visiting Pioneer Diamondbacks (Mission, TX), 6-5 in a league battle.

The Sabercats now possess a 7-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial for a 5A Region IV District 31 battle on Friday, March 28.

With the loss, Pioneer moves to 13-4 on the season. The Diamondbacks travel to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North (Pharr, TX) to confront the Raiders in a non-league battle on Tuesday, March 25. The Raiders enter the challenge with a record of 17-5. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North won 10-0 in their recent league challenge against Rowe (McAllen, TX)
