In Wednesday's non-league game, the host Apex Cougars baseball team scored a tight 5-4 victory over the Clayton Comets.
The Cougars (2-0) will now prepare for their game against Broughton (Raleigh, NC). The Capitals go into the non-league game with a 0-1 record. In their last game, Broughton was edged by Apex Friendship (Apex, NC), 8-7, in a non-league game.
The Comets (0-2) will now prepare for their game against South Johnston (Four Oaks, NC). The Trojans go into the non-league game with a 1-0 record. In their last game, South Johnston tipped Midway (Dunn, NC), 9-5, in a non-league game.
