Union Spartans (Rose Hill, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Clinton Dark Horses (Clinton, NC), 4-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 5-2 record. They take the field next when they host Hobbton for a Carolina 1A challenge on Monday, March 25. Union will battle a Wildcats squad coming off a 13-0 league loss to Rosewood (Goldsboro, NC). The Wildcats record now stands at 0-8.

With the loss, Clinton falls to 4-5 on the campaign. The Dark horses host Wallace-Rose Hill (Teachey, NC) to battle the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 21. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 5-2. Wallace-Rose Hill lost 4-3 in their recent league challenge against North Lenoir (LaGrange, NC)
