El Monte Lions (El Monte, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Marshall Eagles (Pasadena, CA), 16-2 in a league challenge.

The Lions now own a 4-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to South El Monte for a Mission Valley challenge on Wednesday, March 23. El Monte will face a Eagles squad coming off a 15-1 league win over Mountain View (El Monte, CA). The Eagles record now stands at 10-5.

With the loss, Marshall falls to 0-9 on the campaign. The Eagles host Rosemead (Rosemead, CA) to face the Panthers in a Mission Valley challenge on Wednesday, March 23. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 8-2. Rosemead won 8-5 in their recent league challenge against Gabrielino (San Gabriel, CA)
