St. Petersburg Green Devils (St. Petersburg, FL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Tarpon Springs Spongers (Tarpon Springs, FL), 6-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Green Devils now own a 5-2 record. They take the field next when they host Palm Harbor University for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 26. St. Petersburg will battle a Hurricanes squad coming off a 20-2 non-league win over East Bay (Gibsonton, FL). The Hurricanes record now stands at 6-2.

With the loss, Tarpon Springs falls to 3-7 on the campaign. The Spongers travel to Gibbs (St. Petersburg, FL) to battle the Gladiators in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 25. The Gladiators enter the challenge with a record of 1-6. Gibbs lost 24-14 in their recent non-league challenge against Anclote (Holiday, FL)
