The crowd at Friday's non-league bout between the South Pontotoc Cougars (Pontotoc, MS) and the visiting Houston Hilltoppers (Houston, MS), observed South Pontotoc's softball team get by Houston by a tally of 5-1.

The Cougars (10-4) will now prepare for their bout against Vardaman (Vardaman, MS). The Rams go into the non-league bout with a 9-3 record. In their last bout, Vardaman tipped Winona (Winona, MS), 17-5, in a non-league bout.

In their next game, the Hilltoppers clash with the Caledonia Cavaliers (Caledonia, MS) in a 4A Region 3 bout, on Tuesday, March 25. Houston will attempt to advance on its 5-13 season record. The Cavaliers go into the bout with a 14-4 record after their 8-5 non-league win over Eupora (Eupora, MS).
