Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the host Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC), 18-2 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 10-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Watauga for a Northwestern 3A/4A challenge on Friday, March 25. Alexander Central will face a Pioneers squad coming off a 17-0 non-league loss to McDowell (Marion, NC). The Pioneers record now stands at 1-9.

With the loss, Ashe County falls to 0-6 on the campaign. The Huskies travel to Hibriten (Lenoir, NC) to face the Panthers in a Northwestern 3A/4A challenge on Friday, March 25. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 5-2. Hibriten won 10-0 in their recent non-league challenge against East Burke (Connelly Springs, NC)
