Spectators at Friday's league match between the Appomattox County Raiders (Appomattox, VA) and the visiting Nelson County Governors (Lovingston, VA), witnessed Appomattox County's softball squad tip Nelson County by a count of 2-1.

The Raiders now sport a 3-1 record. They play next when they host Gretna for a Dogwood match on Wednesday, March 27. Appomattox County will face a Hawks squad coming off a 10-1 league loss to Dan River (Ringgold, VA). The Hawks record now stands at 2-5.

With the loss, Nelson County moves to 0-4 on the season. The Governors travel to Chatham (Chatham, VA) to face the Cavaliers in a Dogwood match on Tuesday, March 26. The Cavaliers go into the match with a record of 3-3. Chatham won 3-0 in their recent non-league match against Tunstall (Dry Fork, VA)
