Virginia High School Softball - Poquoson holds off Smithfield

Poquoson Islanders (Poquoson, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Smithfield Packers (Smithfield, VA), 4-2 in a league challenge.

The Islanders now own a 5-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Warhill for a Bay Rivers challenge on Wednesday, March 27. Poquoson will play a Lions team coming off a 10-8 league loss to Grafton (Yorktown, VA). The Lions record now stands at 2-2.

In their next game, the Packers play the Tabb Tigers (Yorktown, VA) in a Bay Rivers contest, on Tuesday, March 26. Smithfield will attempt to move on its 3-1 season record. The Tigers come into the contest with a 1-1 record after their 12-2 league win over Bruton (Williamsburg, VA).
