Illinois High School Baseball - Mercer County nips Abingdon/Avon

The Mercer County Golden Eagles (Aledo, IL) baseball got by the visiting Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes (Abingdon, IL), 3-2 in Saturday's non-league challenge.

The Golden Eagles now own a 3-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bureau Valley for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 25. Mercer County will clash with a Storm team coming off a 11-4 non-league win over Erie-Prophetstown (Erie, IL). The Storm record now stands at 3-0.

With the defeat, Abingdon/Avon drops to 0-2 on the year. The Tornadoes host Monmouth-Roseville (Monmouth, IL) to clash with the Titans in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 24. The Titans go into the challenge with a record of 0-2. Monmouth-Roseville lost 14-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Illinois Valley Central (Chillicothe, IL)
